Handtied Bouquet with The Rouge Flower

This June, we wound through the upscale streets of Gangnam, Seoul, and arrived at The Rouge Flower bright and early for a morning hand-tied bouquet class. The soft daylight drifting through the windows perfectly complemented the studio’s serene floral ambiance.

Inside, the studio felt like a hidden garden tucked between sleek cafés and design boutiques. Soft instrumental music played, and blooms in pastel and bold tones were displayed like living art. The space had a refreshing calm—not what you’d expect in one of Seoul’s busiest districts.

Our instructor greeted us with a gentle hello and a warm smile. She explained that in this handtied bouquet workshop, we’d be focusing on balancing flowers, layering foliage, and mastering the spiral technique—a method that looks simple but requires careful attention to stem positioning and proportion.

She then gave a step-by-step demonstration while morning light highlighted the delicate petals of our floral selections. I appreciated the relaxed pace of the session—no rushing, just gentle guidance. Adjusting each stem, seeing how adding a new bloom shifted the balance—it was meditative and absorbing. By the time I trimmed and tied off my bouquet, I had a beautiful arrangement that felt like an extension of my own style.

To finish, the instructor demonstrated how to wrap our bouquets, giving it an elegant, Korean touch that complemented the floral aesthetic. Holding it in daylight, I couldn’t help but smile—the bouquet looked delicate, thoughtful, and imperfectly perfect.
